December 6th | 6:30pm – 8:00pm | In person

A magnificent tapestry of wisdom and love thatcan inspire us all. Joseph Goldstein, author of Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Awakening Few of us will ever retreat to a mountaintop or spend decades in monastic silence. Lawrence Pintaks highly praised new book introduces us to ten individuals who have done exactly that. Pintak has known some of these extraordinary mystics for decades. With others, he spent hundreds of hours in conversation, immersing himself in the teachings and meditation practices of their traditions and diving deep into their stories. You will not find them on the best seller lists or the Spiritual 100 rankings. Most quietly pursue their spiritual quest far from the media spotlight. What prompted them to walk away from it all? What do they see that the rest of us do not? What lessons do they bring back from their spiritual journeys? What can we learn from them? In a conversation at the Theosophical Society in Seattle, Pintak will talk about his personal journey researching and writing the book and the fascinating journeys of the individuals who agreed to share their stories.

Lawrence Pintak has spent his life grounded in facts while fascinated with the ethereal. An award-winning former CBS News Middle East correspondent with a PhD in Islamic Studies, Pintak was founding dean ofThe Edward R. Murrow College of Communication atWashington State University. He has a lifelong interest in the Perennial Wisdom at the heart of the worlds religions. The author of seven books at the intersection of religion, media, and policy, his reporting and analysis on religion and international affairs has been published by The New York Times, Foreign Policy, the Washington Post, and many of the worlds leading media organizations, as well as spiritual publications such as Shambhala Sun/Lions Roar, Buddhadharma, http://Beliefnet.com .
