“Theosophy,” comes from the Greek, “Theos,” meaning “God or the Divine” and “sophia" meaning “wisdom, knowledge.” It represents “Divine Wisdom” and encompasses the principles and teachings of spirituality that have been passed down throughout the ages. It includes the levels of consciousness within a human being and how to transcend one’s identification with the transitory personality to align with the True Self.

The Kabbalah is a set of esoteric teachings meant to explain the relationship between God, the mysterious En Sof, and an individual person. This is symbolized in the Tree of Life, which not only sums up the nature of a human being, but also is the path of energy coming from the Divine and the path of return for humanity.

Join Sue Prescott as she discusses the similarities of these two philosophies and reveals to you the secrets of the mystical teachings of both.

Sue Prescott, MSW, is a therapist, life-long theosophist and frequent lecturer at the Seattle lodge and surrounding area. She is author of Realizing the Self Within—an overview of the concepts of spirituality that can be applied to relationships and self-improvement.
